In the year 1983 MAMATA established by a dedicated and catalyst group of social workers, memebers of the civil society, reputed professionals, Businessmen, Doctors and Engineers of the City of Chittagong with a commitment to serve the socially disadvantaged segment of population in Health and Family welfare, poverty alleviation socio-economic development, Human Rights and Education .MAMATA identified individual, family and community(IFC) as focal points to be addressed for their awerness , sensitization and capacity build up an in integrated approach for the improvement of the lives and livelihoods of poors and downtrodden sectionof the people.

The Organization of MAMATA has a regional workforce of more than 700 people. Its headquarters is located
in House # 13, Lane # 01, Block-L, Halishahar Housing Estate, Chittagong.
In working towards the fulfillment of its statutory mission, MAMATA established Audit and Monitoring unit,HR and MIS unit and IT/Software development units for its capacity build up and for continuous development of accountablity and transparency and catering the need of speedy expansion of it's programs/projects, Microfinance Program on sound footing through expansion of it's branches, savings and credit products, Insurance coverage, Increased number of beneficiaries, integrated health srevices delivery for beneficiaries through distribution health cards to members to avail health facilities in Maternity, Static and Satellite Clinics run by MAMATA.
