MAMATA ENRICH PROGRAM
ENRICH program started in the Borkol Union of Chandanish Upazila under Chattogram District in the year of 2014 with the financial and technical support of PKSF.
\r\n An inauguration program was held on 23.08.2014 in the premises of the Barkal union with the participation of Former Managing Director of PKSF, Deputy Commissioner, Chattogram, UNO, Chadanish Upazila, Upazila Parishad Chairman, Union Parishad Chairman of Borkol Union and high official of the district and upazila level, also local elites. Thousands of people of all walks of life from all over the union attended the meeting with great enthusiasm. In the back drop success story of ENRICH program in Borkol Union, Mamata was selected by PKSF for implementation ENRICH program in another two Unions named Uttar Madarsha and Gorduara under Hathazari Upazila of Chattogram District and started interventions of ENRICH there from 2017. Now MAMATA has been implementing ENRICH Program in above three Unions by the support of PKSF for the integrated development of disadvantaged people.
\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\nThe ENRICH facilitates the best utilization of the exiting capabilities and resources of the poor households and at the same time supports enhancement of their capabilities and resource base in order to enable them to move ahead steadily. Under this approach the integrated action programme includes the key components of education , sanitation, beggar rehabilitation, youth development, keshori development, sports and cultural program, skill development training, agricultural development, technology transfer and support, information dessimination, health services, food security and nutrition, awareness raising, facilitating access to asset, social capital formation, special savings activity, sanitation for religious place, IGA activities, small scale infrastructure development, climate change adaption, insurance services, market linkages and so on. In other words, enterprise development is encouraged in the ENRICH. This is done, while poverty reduction remains the focus for poverty-stricken families, though increased capability development and self and wage earning employment generation.
\r\nThe Union Parishad plays an advisory role and facilitates the work as and when necessary.
\r\nAwareness raising among the people is therefore, an important ENRICH activity to help the people make their commitment towards ENRICH interventions and work accordingly. The ENRICH initially focuses on ultra-poor and poor households, with monthly household income of up to BDT 5,000 and between BDT 5000+ and BDT 5,800 respectively.
