HERhealth project, Mamata
A leader in corporate responsibility since 1992, BSR works with its global network of more than 250 member companies to develop sustainable business strategies and solutions through consulting, research, and cross-sector collaboration.\r\nBSR\'s HERproject is a collaborative initiative that strives to empower low-income women working in global supply chains.\r\nTo bringing together global brands, their suppliers, and local NGOs, HERproject drives impact for women and business via workplace-based interventions on health, financial inclusion, and gender equality. Since its inception in 2007, HERproject has worked in more than 700 workplaces across 14 countries and has increased the well-being, confidence, and economic potential of more than 800,000 women.\r\n HERhealth focuses on Building Capacity, Strengthening Management Systems, Expending Access to products & Service. \r\nWorking with their global network of partners, HERhealth also demonstrates the return on investment for factory-based women’s health programs.\r\nMamata has been implementing HERhealth project since 2012 in Chattogram. Till this time, Mamata successfully completed HERhealth activities in 22 factories.\r\n\r\n Focus areas: \r\nHERhealth is based on the HERproject activities, with the following focus areas:\r\n\r\nBuilding Capacity of Female workers:\r\n\r\n Raising awareness on critical health topics such as Nutritional foods, personal and menstrual hygiene and maternal health.\r\n Improving health-related behaviors such as Diagnosis, seeking out preventative care, and conducting self-examinations on breast.\r\n Addressing common myths and misconceptions around potentially harmful health practices and beliefs.\r\n Building confidence and communication skills of female workers around discussing important health issues at work and at home.\r\n \r\nStrengthening Management Systems:\r\n• Improving the capacity of the workplace clinic to respond to workers’ health needs\r\n• Linking workplaces with external health service providers, such as local clinics\r\nStrengthening workplace policies and systems promoting worker well-being. P\r\nr\r\nOutput of the project:\r\n\r\n HERhealth training knowledge helps factory workers to maintain personal hygiene during COVID-19. Workers shared that Personal Hygiene module helped them in following ways-\r\n• They understand what is germ and virus\r\n• Steps of hand washing for 20 secs\r\n• Maintaining hygiene at home and at workplace. As well as, factory also taking additional steps to increase the workplace safety.\r\n Building Capacity of Female workers.\r\n Raising awareness on critical health topics such as healthy eating, personal and menstrual hygiene, and maternal health.\r\n Improving health-related behaviors such as disease testing, seeking out preventative care, and conducting breast self-examinations\r\n Addressing common myths and misconceptions around potentially harmful health practices and beliefs\r\n Building confidence and communication skills of female workers around discussing important health issues at work and at home
