MAMATA Celebrates 39th Anniversary

Mamata, a non-governmental organization, celebrates its 39th anniversary and Mamata Day on Saturday, January 1st with the call ‘Service is power’. On the occasion of the founding anniversary, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor freedom fighter Mohammad Rezaul Karim Chy was present as the chief guest at the event presided by Jahangir Alam, President, Executive committee of Mamata. Shri Nitai Kumar Bhattacharya, General Manager (Chittagong) of Bangladesh Television was present as a special guest. The program started with a recitation of the Holy Quran. Many activities were taken into account i.e.; distribution of wheelchairs among physically challenged people, distribution of sewing machines among financially challenged women and women entrepreneurs, educational materials and scholarships were given to underprivileged and meritorious students and entrepreneurship development awards were given to a women entrepreneur named Marium Begum for her outstanding entrepreneurship. A broad visual presentation on MAMATA’s activities was presented by director Towhid Ahmed of MAMATA. Under the supervision and conduction of Chief Executive of MAMATA Al-haj Rafique Ahamed, Deputy Chief Executive of Mamata, Md. Faruque addressed the audience with his welcoming speech where honorable guest CCC Panel Mayor Afroza Kalam, Councilor Nazmul Haque Duke, Former MP Sabiha Musa, Prominent Businessman, and Politician Ashfaque Ahmed, Vice President of Maa o Shishu Hospital Syed Morshed Hossain, Assistant Chief Executive of Mamata Mohammad Shahariar, Senior Director Swapna Talukder shared their valuable words and views. General Secretary of MAMATA Executive Committee Mansur Masud thanked the audience of the event. Earlier, on the occasion of Mamata\'s birth anniversary, a Khatme Quran, and food distribution among the orphans took place. Chattogram City Corporation Mayor, freedom fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, said in his speech as the chief guest, “MAMATA has been working as a supporting force of the government in development sector under the leadership of Rafique Ahamed for a long period of time and Mamata undoubtedly deserves praise for its contribution to the socio-economic development of this region including maternal and child health services”. He called upon Mamata to continue providing services to the underprivileged sections of society to make it a better place. He also assured to provide appropriate assistance on behalf of Chattogram City Corporation.
