Inauguration of Cultural Institute of MAMATA

The Cultural Institute of MAMATA a new Venture of the organization was inaugurated in the Mamata HQ at Halishahar Housing Estate Chittagong with colorful opening ceremony followed by a discussion meeting.
The executive editor of Dainik Azadi Mr. Wahid Malik performed the opening of the institute as a chief guest. He along with the dignitaries present on the occasion made a round in the different section of a Institute including “Arts and Drawing section”, where a good number of children turned up and participated in different creative activities, which was appreciated by the chief guest.
In the discussion meeting organized to mark the occasion was presided over by Baduzzaman Khan the president of the EC of MAMATA. The chief guest in his speech underscored the necessity of building a carrier of the children both in educational institutions and in arts and cultural activities which will safeguard children from external aggression of alien culture and other practices including misuse of social media and drug and other substance abuse and learning towards social degradation. He told that our cultural heritage is so rich that if our children’s are exposed to our own culture remain on track and shall not be subjected to foreign cultural invention. However he told that our children can take some good creative lessons from foreign culture but not all which are appropriate in foreign settings only. At the onset of the meeting Mr. Faruque, DCE of MAMATA presented his advises of welcome.The meeting was also addressed by Ms Prof. Purobi Das Gupta EC member of MAMATA, Mr. Towhid Ahmed, Deputy Director ICT & Program, Ms Kamrun Nahar Parvin Project Manager MAMATA-PPHP, Ms Nasima Akter Rumi EC Member of MAMATA, Swapna Talukder Director Coordination, Mr. Mohammad Shahriar Director Finance and other dignitaries. Mr. Iqbal Al Mahmood presented role of thanks to the chief guest and all the invites present to grace the occasion.

Mamata Observed Field Day

Mamata is implementing agriculture and livestock program along with micro finance in patiya upozila through providing technical assistances and agricultural inputs to the farmers for the extension of modern technologies of agriculture and livestock. A field day highlighting Home Gardening was held on 27/03/2017 at Noyahat of Kashiash Union with the participation of 70 members of farmers. Farmers visited and enjoyed several Home gardens and gatherd technical knowledge of home gardening. Local UP members Mrs Shipra Das presided over the program and Mr. Ahmed Yusuf Harun Team Leader (TE&R), Mamata, Kbd Enamul Hoque Agriculture Officer, Mamata, Dr. Arup Sen Live Stock Officer, Mamata, Mr. Shahjahan Area Manager, Mamata, Mr. Charls Rashel Moris Branch Manager, Mamata were present in the field day.

International Women’s Day Celebrated by MAMATA

MAMATA observed International Womens day on 08 march 2017 like previous years with the support of MJF with in the purview of Development of the Status of the Women Worker’s Rights (DSWWR), project with due celebration and jubilation.
At 5.00 pm on 08 March -2017 a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the project office at Bandartila and the large rally was led by Ziaul Haque Sumon,Councilor ward 39 of Chittagong City Corporation. The rally marched through Airport Road upto the ward councilor’s office and came back to south Halishahar School playground which was the venue of observation of International Women’s Day celebration organized by MAMATA.About 250 female garments workers participated in the rally including local elites, members of the civil society, officers and personel of different projects of Mamata.
On this occasion a discussion meeting was arranged at the Southhalishahar School playground which was presided by Mohammad Faruque Deputy Chief Executive of Mamata, where Mr. Md Mashekur Rahman ADC (General) Chittagong was the Chief Guest and Eminent Educationist Mrs. Anwara Alam was present as special guest.
On the onset of the discussion meeting The Theme song of Mamata with a Colorful Chorography was presented by MOM, a cultural unit of Mamata. Then a group dance and a short drama highlighting everyday life of garments workers were staged by workers themselves which was magnificent and applauded by the audience time and again.
The discussion meeting started at 6.30 pm with recition from Holy Quran by a female germents worker Taznihar Begum.Then The Director Coordination of Mamata Mrs Swapna Talukder made her welcome speech, while Mr Ruhul Mohid Chowdhury, Project Co-ordinator gave a resume of DSWWR Project.The president of the Central Committee of the workers association Hosneara Laboni ,The General Secretary of the workers central committee Mr. Musleh Uddin spoke on the occasion and thanked Mamata to organize many events to observe the day where they could highlight their views and legitimate demands.
The Chief Guest in his speech informed the audience specially the garments workers that present government has been dedicated towards the greater welfare and improvement of livelihood of garments workers. The special guest Professor Mrs Anowara Alam in his speech urged up on the owners of RMG factories to foster healthy working environment and establish day care centers and provide maternity leave and benefits for the workers to accelerate production and to reduce dropout.
Mr, Mansur Masud Member of EC, Mamata, Deputy Director (ICT & Program) of Mamata Mr. Towhid Ahmed, President of local project development committee Mr. Abu Taher, Project Manager Mrs. Kamrun Nahar Parbin spoke on occasion.In this closing remarks the Chairperson Mahammad Faruque thanked Chief guest, special guest and other dignitaries to grace the occasion.
The closing event was a cultural function presented by the RMG workers and artists of MOM enjoyed by about 625 RMG workers and invitees present.

Annual Convention of MAMATA Savings and Credit Program (MSCP) was celebrated on 03 March, 2017 at Hotel Sea World at Cox’s Bazar premises with great enthusiasm, fanfare and colorful events. All personnel of MSCP including field level workers, mid-level managerial staff, Head of the Departments of Mamata, Head of all Programs/Projects, President, general secretary and members of EC and Members of CMT of Mamata were presents.
The Convention was chaired by the Chief Executive of the organization Alhaz Rafique Ahmed; while Ex. Principle Secretary of Prime Minister’s office and Managing Director of PKSF Mr. Abdul Karim graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Chairman & CEO of IMM Group Mr. Abul Bashar Abu, Deputy General Manager of PKSF Mr. Abdul Matin, CEO of Anukul Foundation Mr. Anwar Kamal Majumder, Senior GM(HRD) of Young One Group Mr. Harun-Ur-Rashid, President of Mamata Mr. Badiuzzaman Khan Nani and General Secretary of Mamata Mr. Jahangir Alam Joshef remained present as a Special Guest’s.
The Annual Convention highlighted on the achievements of MAMATA in Savings Credit Program and Enrich Program for the year 2016.
Life time achievements, the best performer’s awards, Crests and special Gifts were distributed among the best performing workers is recognition of their brilliant contribution towards attainment of goals and objective of MSCP.
There was a colorful cultural show after the discussion session and awards giving ceremony within was attractive and was enjoyed by the audience.

Annual Convention of MAMATA Health Program was held on 17 February 2017 at Holiday Inn Resort in Megla Bandarban, Chittagong, Where all the Consultants, Medical Officers , Health Officials, Head of The Departments, Head of all Programs/Projects and Members of CMT of Mamata and all field level Health Workers were presents. The Convention was chaired by the Chief Executive of the organization Alhaz Rafique Ahmed; while Deputy Director, Family Planning of Chittagong District U K Win graced the occasion as a Chief Guest and Assistant Director, Family Planning, Chittagong District Subrata Kumar Chowdhury remained present as a Special Guest. The Annual Convention highlighted on the achievements of MAMATA in Health Program for the year 2016 and previous 3 decades specially regarding receiving National Population Award for 9 times and Conduction of more than 60 thousand Deliveries(NVD & CS) during the period 2001-2016.
The best individual performers and best performing Maternities Centers were focused in the Convention through awarding Crests and special Gifts.
The Annual Conventionwas also attended by Elites of the City, Educationists, Social leaders, Physicians and Focal persons of different programs/projects of MAMATA.

Md Moshiur Rahman, General Manager (Operation) and Team Leader (Enrich Program) of PKSF Visited Mamata Enrich Program at Barkol Union and Chandanaish UZ in the district of Chittagong.

PKSF General Manager (Operation) and Team Leader (Enrich Program) has Visited Mamata Enrich Program at Barkal Union under Chandanaish Upozilla Dated on 12.11.2016. He conducted Two Meeting with Enrich program personnel of health sector and education sector. He discussed reviewsd activities of enrich program. In this meeting UP Chairman Mr Habibur Rahman and ward members of Barkol Union were present in this meeting along with other local elites. During the meeting UP Chairman and and others present welcomed to Mr. Md Moshiur Rahaman with Bouquet and Crest. He visited various location of the UP and observed Bagger Rehabilitation activity, Enrich House, Enrich Center, Ring Culvert and Religious Temple based Sanitary Latrine renovating programs.At the end of his visit he appreciated Mamata for its relentless efforts to make the ENRICH Program a success in Barkol UP.
They spoke very high about PKSF for its support to the people of Barkol UP in Health, Nutrition, Education, Infrastructure Development and Family Enterprise Development Program with in the purview of ENRICH Program.

MAMATA organized Free Eye Camp under Enrich Project

On 12 November 2016 a Free Eye Camp was organized by Enrich Project, MAMATA in the Enrich Coordination office premises at Barkol.
In the free eye camp total 209 patients have been provided with diagnosis and treatments out of which 60 cataract patients were identified who will be up sated upon in batches in Lions Eye Hospital in Chittagong City by MAMATA with PKSF support with need based supplementation by MAMATA

MAMATA ICT Unit started ICT Basic Training for MSCP Officials.

Mamata ICT Unit started a Training program “ICT-Basic Concept” for all MSCP officials. The objective of ICT Training is to provide relevant, basic computer literacy knowledge to capacitize MSCP officials to learn to use the most commonly applied computer software.
On the 29th October 2016 the first Training program “ICT-Basic Concept” for MSCP officials was held at Juldha Branch, MAMATA where the Area Managers, Branch Managers, Field Officers and Credit Officers of 3 MSCP branches of zone 8 of MSCP MAMATA were participants.
Training will be held on all zone and 3 EDD branches of MAMATA MSCP at every Saturday until the Basic ICT training is accomplished.

Business Development Plan (BDP) work shop of MAMATA

On the 20th August 2016 at 9 am, A Workshop on BDP for MSCP was held at Prince of Chittagong Auditorium in the city of Chittagong, where all the Area Managers, Branch Managers, Field Officers And Credit Officers of 48 Branches, EDD coordinators, Enterprise Officers, Audit Officers, Monitoring officers, heads of Depts. and TE&R unit and members of CMT of MAMATA were present. The Chief Executive of MAMATA presided over the workshop and steered the proceeding of the workshop through Branch-wise, Zone-wise review of the performance of BDP of MSCP for this financial year 2015-2016 up to July/2016 with elaborate and thread bare deliberation/descriptions/discussions. Most of the Branches/Zones were found on the track to achieve target of BDP by June/2016, only a few were found lagging behind but have potentiality to recoup and someone have been set to cross the target. Hence overall achievements of targets of BDP of MSCP up to July 2016 was evaluated as satisfactory. On the basis of the achievement and optimal on set of BDP for FY 2016-17, MIS Dept. of MSCP presented outlines of BDP of 2016-2017 in the workshop based on draft BDP received. Branch Managers, Program Officers and other senior management personnel present in the workshop made detailed conditions on the key indicators projected BDP for FY 2016-17 and then all the suggestions and point of views agreed in the workshop were decided to be incorporated in the projected BDP of MSCP for FY 2016-17. It was further decided in the workshop that MIS Dept. will forward the drafted/projected BDP for FY 2016-17 to all branches and zones for their integrated feedback through group approach Branch/Zone wise sharing meeting and then the BDP would be finally formulated keeping in view of the trends of growth of MSCP in last three years and also with availing the opportunity to extend the areas/branches of MSCP in the FY to accomplish the goals and objectives of the MSCP and vision and mission of the organization. In his concluding remarks the chief executive made a clarion call to the participants to uphold the core value and basic principles of MAMATA above all and always too strict to “Best Practices” and to serve the less privileged segment of population with a missionary zeal to eliminate poverty, to forty entrepreneurs for IGA and economic empowerment employment generation and women empowerment with in the purview of MSCP.

MAMATA implement ENRICH Program (Enhancing Resources and Increasing Capacities of poor Households towards Elimination of their Poverty) at Borkol union under Chandanaish upazila in Chittagong district.

With the technical and financial support of PKSF (Palli Karma Sohaok Foundation), Mamata has been implementing ENRICH Program at Borkol union under Chandanaish upazila in Chittagong district. The core aim of the program is to restore human dignity of the poor households with the elimination of poverty. Under this program some new intuitions is going to be included besides Primary Education and Health Service. These are ENRICH house, Homeless rehabilitation, Establishment of ENRICH Center, Culverts making, Healthy Latrine building in different religious and social institution.
ENRICH model house: Under ENRICH program recently take initiative to establish` ENRICH model house’. Tansen Shil, S/O: Shadhon Shil, Shil para, Sucia, Borkol took part to establish ENRICH house under this program. He is 26 years old and went to abroad for seeking his perspective work. But cannot bought positive result. He returns and seeking self-employed work. Besides his old tin shed house there were some fallows along with an unused pond. His mother Taposhi Shil has been took part to ENRICH program to received a loan of 1,40,000 (one lac forty thousand) taka and Tansen built a shed for poultry, cow and buck rearing. He started duck rearing and fish cultivation by reforms the unused pond. Now in his integrated farm seventy high variety duck eleven local variety hen-cock, a goat and a milk cow are available. He has a plan to enlarge his farm step by step. Rather than this he plants some fruit plant & Medicinal plant. Whatever need in an idol house everything is plant in his residence. To become fruitful of Tansens project Mamata ENRICH program assists all kind of technical support & proper monitoring. His house would be a model house which may be created example for neighbor.
Beggar Rehabilitation Program: One of the challenging intuition of ENRICH program is homeless rehabilitation. Shilpi Shil W/o: Late Khokan Shil, Vill: Sucia, Barkol become helpless after death of her husband. She passed her livelihood with the help of neighbors and begging along with her little girl child. Her only shelter was her husband clod of earth which was breakdown by heavy rainfall and flood then she passed her livelihood to make a dwell of plastic sheet. Recently under homeless rehabilitation project of ENRICH program Mamata takes step to rehabilitated her. ENRICH program of Mamata built her a tin shed house for her living. Mamata gave her 50 (fifty) kg of rice for puffed rice, dish for fry and other materials for thus she can self-dependent by selling puffed rice. Mamata gave her 20 ducks and 2 goats for rearing to generate her income without begging.
Healthy latrine build in deferent religious and social institution: In the project area of ENRICH program, build Healthy latrine, deferent religious and social institutes specially Masjid, temple and religious place. Till now 4 Healthy latrine was built/renovation in the local Masjid & temple by Mamata ENRICH program.
ENRICH Center: It’s taken steps to establish 9 (nine) ENRICH Center at 9 ward in Borkol union The measurement of these center is 16’x 23’brick walls and tin shed make building. This center will use for ENRICH School, satellite clinic; micro-finance operation, ward development meeting and different types of beneficiary training. Presently two ENRICH Center is almost completed.
Ring Culverts building: In generally bridge, culvert is not properly working in the project area. As a result in rainy season village road become unusable due to heavy rain fall. 12 ring culverts built in the village area of the Borkol union specially groundbreaker pathway. As a result movements become easy and water blockage will remove. So, it’s helpful for the small children for going to school regularly.
Word Committee Formation: No of 9 ward committee formation has been completed by June 16. They participated word meeting in every month to develop their community and area under Enrich Program

MAMATA Received National Population Award 2015-2016

In recognition of its meritorious and outstanding services in HPNSDP sector . MAMATA has been Awarded National Population Award 2015-2016 by the government of Bangladesh.
In celebration of the world population day 2015-2016, a National Program was held on 21 July 2016 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at Dhaka where honourable minister of Health and Family Welfare Mr. Mohammad Nasim handed over the Award to the Chief Executive of MAMATA Alhaj Rafique Ahmed before the distinguished audience.
This may be mentioned here that MAMATA received "National Population Award" in the years 1991, 1999, 2000,2002,2007,2010, 2012 and 2013 for its outstanding and meritorious performance and success story in Family Planning, Mother and Child Health Care motivational and service delivery(FP-MCH).

MAMATA stands by the side of cyclone “Roanu” affected people of the Coastal Belt of Chittagong District.

On 21 May 2016, A devastating cyclone named “Roanu” with a speed of 100+ KM per hour caused colossal damage to the costal embankments, crops and other agricultural products and outputs, Fishery farms and hatcheries were washed away, Dairy farms, SME and ME firms were destroyed along with dwelling houses, roads and rural infrastructure. There were loss of human lives and cattle heads. In short Roanu shattered the lives and live hoods of the poorest segment of population in the coastal localities of southern Chittagong in particular and other coastal areas of the country in general.
MAMATA started relief and rehabilitations work immediately after the natural calamity in Khankhanabad union of Bashkhali Upozila in the southern part of Chittagong District. MAMATA conducted survey of the devastated locality with the staff of MAMATA ECGSC in WSS project supported by NGO Forum/DFID. The MAMATA team had been working in the site prepared a list of most affected people of the union giving preference to the poor beneficiaries of our WSS project in conjunction with UP authorities.
In integration with NGO Forum for Public Health, MAMATA distributed emergency relief materials including beaten rice and other dry food items, ORS packets and bleaching powders etc. to the worse affected people of Khankhanabad UP in presence of local elected representatives and members of village development committees, senior officials from MAMATA Hd and NGO Forum.
This may be mentioned here that Tube wells, Deep Tube wells, sanitary latrines at house hold level and Educational Institutions and community levels like Market places etc. with high platforms provided by our MAMATA-WSS project remained operational braving the devastations of “Roanu” and came up as great support to the “Roanu” affected populations of Khankhanabad and Baharchan Unions of Bashkhali Upazilla.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)-2016 of MAMATA

AGM of MAMATA was held on 26 May 2016 at 11.30 am in the CARITAS Auditorium, Chittagong. The meeting was chaired by the President of the organization Badiuzzaman Khan Nani; while Member of the Parliament (MP) Shabiha Nahar Begum graced the occasion as Chief guest. The Annual Report of the organization for the year 2015 was presented in the AGM by the general secretary of the organization Jahangir Alam Joshef ; while the budget of the organization was presented by Director (finance) of MAMATA Md. Shahariar as treasurer of the organization Mosharraf Hossain was away at Singapore for his treatment. The Annual report 2015 embodied the achievements of MAMATA in program (Health & Microfinance) perspective and also the welfare and rights based projects focusing on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) , Women Workers Rights (DSWWR) through establishment of leadership of the female workers by group dimension as an alternative to Trade Union. ECCD, Child Space and Child Rights focusing on preventing physical and humiliating punishment through AEC and CBCPC , Establishment of Dairy Farm through Value Chain Approach, Education, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Food Security etc. The Annual report 2015 was adopted in the AGM after review and discussion made by the members present. On the onset of presenting the budget the Director finance placed the revised budget of FY 2015-16 in the house; where total income including project grants stood at BDT 36.94 cores and total expenditure including projects were BDT 29.08 cores and thereby a surplus of BDT 07.86 cores were estimated in the budget of FY 2015-16.
In the projected/estimated budget of FY 2016-17 the income including project grant has been estimated at BDT 40.04 cores and expenditure (including projects) at BDT 33.22 and thereby a surplus of 06.82 cores has been projected in the budget. A total estimated capital expenditure of BDT 13.77 cores has been projected the budget keeping in views of lump sum grants approved by PKSF to construct a Maternity Hospital and Nurse/Midwife training center, construction of MAMATA HQ building on the own land of MAMATA at Panwala Para. The capital budget also includes procurement of equipment’s for 60 bed MAMATA Nagar Matrishadan, Lalkhan Bazar and MAMATA 30 bed Matrishadan at Bandartila.
In the AGM addendum/amendments to Personal/HR Manual, Accounting Manual and procurement policy, MSCP Manual were approved; while new salary structure for MSCP, Staff Welfare policy and Medical Facilities policy of CMT were adopted in the AGM after threadbare discussion by members of the general body present in AGM.
In the 2nd part of the meeting a veteran specialized physician of ENT Dr. L.K.Dutta was accorded with a warm reception in celebration of his outstanding professional services for long 50 years to the people, whom include poorest segment, of population provided services free of cost. He provided consultancy services to the poor’s in the health camps at hard to reach villages organized by MAMATA free of cost. He was presented with a crest and colorful bouquets. Prominent members of general body of MAMATA and chief guest spoke high recognizing his dedicated services to the cause of humanity. The AGM was also attended by NGO leaders, Elites of the City, Educationists, Social leaders, Physicians and Focal persons of different programs/projects of MAMATA.

Business Development Plan (BDP) work shop of MAMATA

MAMATA Savings and Credit Program (MSCP) started operation since 1994 to alleviate poverty and to foster micro enterprise and other IGAs for self-employment and for generation of employment in poorest segment of population especially for women in rural villages, and in urban slums. Starting from one branch at Bandartila in Chittagong City in 1994. MAMATA has now expanded its, area of operation in 10 Upazilas of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar Districts with 50 Branches having 431 personnel, 3299 groups, 65,289 members and total savings balance of BDT 614,326,224, total loan outstanding of BDT 1,210,57, 1130 and having equity fund of BDT 356,290,840. MAMATA has now been “A” grade partner of PKSF. MAMATA has been implementing Microfinance + Program now integrating with health, education, Women Rights/Empowerment. MSCP has been supporting MAMATA Health Program, CCPP-HCSDP, and ECCD/Education Program through financial support with in the purview of appropriate budgetary allocation to the tune of BDT 2.00 million on average every year in response to its corporate social responsibilities.
MSCP has a strong MIS Dept. to project “Business Development Plan” in every year in conjunction with Finance, TE&R and HR Dept. BDP workshop is taken place during May every year to formulated the BDP of MSCP for the next FY. Before the yearly BDP is drawn key players including members of CMT, POs, BM and EDD Personnel are engaged in series of exercises by exchanging information and getting feedback through meetings, e-mails and software based data to finally formulate the BDP and make final presentation of BDP at the last week of June every year for next Financial Year. The BDP incorporates projection for every Branch, EDD unit, CCPP unit, Zones/POs and finally for MAMATA as a whole. Then quarterly BDP review meeting are held every quarter to update the performance vis-à-vis BDP to make need based adjustment/recasts and or enhance the scope of incorporation of new sources/products of saving and credit in view of changing dimension of Microcredit in Bangladesh and worldwide.

ENRICH (Enhancing Resources and Increasing Capacities of poor Households Towards Elimination of Their Poverty---ENRICH) is a Flag Ship Project of PKSF (Palli Karma Shahayak Foundation---means Rural Employment Generating Foundation) which was established by GOB to alleviate poverty by fostering IGA and self-employment through NGOs. PKSF provides technical and financial supports to NGOs to grow and flourish with innovate dimensions to achieve the goal of poverty alleviation. MAMATA has been implementing ENRICH project in a hard to reach poor villages called Barkal and Kanaimadari under Barkal union of Chandanaish Upozila under Chittagong district.
Main focus of the project is on Health, Nutrition and Education for the poorest people. Project intervention includes financial support for IGA, cultivation of vegetables with in or with the vicinity of households, water sealed latrine, safe water and sanitation , tree plantation focusing on herbal and other plants whose leaves etc. are used for food and medicines etc. Mainstreaming the beggars by providing those funds to have a small goats/cow rearing and poultry farm or other IGA.
Enrich Project rearing 20 afternoon schools for children of poor families to eliminate dropout and ensure 100% enrollment in primary schools. 10 Health Assistants are working to at gross root and at house hold levels and have covered all the 3732 houses and 20119 population of the UP since September 2014. There are two diploma medical assistants supporting and supervising Health workers to provide primary health care to the villagers. Medical Assistants conducting static clinics in the afternoon one at Barkal and another at Kanaimadari. Again 8 satellite clinics are organized in the UP to provide secondary health services to poors through MBBS and higher medical professionals. So far 10 health camps have been organized every monthin the Barkal union where about 10000 patients attended, out of whom mothers and children are majority service recipients. Prominent consultants /physicians including Dr. L.K.Datta, Dr. Habib-E-Kuda, Dr. Morsheda Begum, Dr. Shoma Biswas, Dr. Ashrafur rahaman and Dr. Shawn Barua attended the health Camp, among others.
On 12 may 2016 a Health Camp was organized by ENRICH project. MAMATA in the kanaimadari Dr. Oli Ahmed High School, which is in a remotest hard to reach area of south Chittagong. Upozila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chandanaish opened the Health Camp as the Chief Guest. A discussion meeting was held on the occasion. In the meeting held in the hall room of the school was presided by the chief Executive of MAMATA and was attended by local opinion leaders.
In the meeting cheques of TK 1 lac (one lac) each was handled over by the UNO to two beggars to quit begging and rear goats as an alternative livelihood to mainstream. Slabs and commodes of 12 water sealed latrines were also distributed to the poor villagers. The Chief guest assured the beggars to build up two houses in khas lands for them and asked them to contact her to get technical support from animal resources Dept. of the GOB. at chandanaish UZ . She appreciated MAMATA to mender comprehensive development package of services to the poors of Barkal UP and assured the sides of chandanaish all sorts of supports from the side of chandanaish Upazila administration to MAMATA.
In the health camp total 262 patients have been provided with diagnosis and treatments out of which 55 for gynea/Obs ,49 for general health complications, 29 diabetes, 68 child health , 41 ENT and dental patients.
This may be mentioned here that recently one Social Development Organizes and one Family Enterprise Development Assistant have joined the ENRICH project to undertake integrated socio-economic development , enterprise development, IGA and self-employment of unemployed of partially employed poors of the area to whom MAMATA will extend credit facilities for enterprise development and training facilities for IGA and micro-enterprise development.

World Mother’s Day Celebrated by MAMATA

World Mother’s Day to day, observed in about 100 countries in the world being we 2nd Sunday of May, having legacy of the celebration of the day from the year 1914 in the USA to honor mothers for their contribution to build up modern civilization, giving birth and rearing millions of brilliant sons and daughters who have/had their blood flows in all the victories, inventions and innovations of the world and an affectionate rearing neonates up to their youth hood with care and dedication, which altogether made this world most colorful for human habitation. There are as many as 50/60 countries who observe the day on many days based on their customs and creeds and beliefs. Once “Mothering Sunday” was a part of Christian calendar in Roman Empire. Bangladesh started observing the day to honor the mothers and their unforgettable contribution towards their children who are the future builders of our nation.
MAMATA an organization where majority of beneficiaries and its work force are women, has observed the day on 08 may 2016 like previous years in two venues; one at MAMATA city maternity center at Lalkhan Bazar and another at MAMATA maternity center Bandartila in the city of chittagong. In both the places mothers from the localities and those who came for medical checkup and safe delivery at those countries attended both the functions. This events were made colorful with presentation of flower bouquets to the mothers and sweets to their children.
In both the meetings high officials, local leaders and member of the civil society attended; while consultants (Gynea/Obs) and consultants (child health) spoke on the occasion as resource persons and the local elites also gave their point of views highlighting of the roles of mothers in a developing countries like ours.

Rally, Discussion meeting and other colorful events organized by MAMATA mark the “May Day” observance 2016

MAMATA observed May Day 2016 under the auspices of MJF with in the purview of Development of the Status of the Women Worker’s Rights (DSWWR), MAMATA project with due celebration and jubilation.
At 2.30 pm on 1st May -2016 a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the project office at Bandartila and the large rally was led by 1st Vice-president of BGMEA Mr. Mainuddin Ahmed Mintu, and joind by President of MAMATA Mr. Baduzzaman Khan Nani, the President of LPDC and a prominent freedom fighter Mr. Abu Taher and other.The rally marched through the airport road with festoons, placards and banner befitting to the day. About one thousand female garments workers participated in the rally in addition to local elites and member of the civil society. The rally drew the attention of large public who echoed with voices of the garments workers to improve their socio-economic status.
The rally ended at playground of south Halishahar school which was the venue of observation of May Day celebration organized by MAMATA.

At 3.30 pm the workers displayed the theme song of MAMATA with a beautiful choreography upholding the vision of MAMATA which also reflected the spirit of May Day. Then the theme song of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) was displayed by a group of female workers with beautiful turn up and exposure of body language, movement and dances which attracted the attention of 2000 audience who gave them standing ovations for their wonderful two performance.
The discussion meeting was presided over by Mr. Badiuzzaman Khan Nani At the onset of the meeting a female worker Taznihar Begum recitation from holy quran.Then the president of the Central Committee of the workers association. Hosneara Laboni made a speech appealing to the authority to provide their workers with special bus services from the city to the CEPZ and construction of sufficient numbers of dormitories around CEPZ to provide accommodation to about 200,000 workers engaged the CEPZ and around CEPZ, make provision for Day Care Center for the children of garments factory workers and establishment of maternity/delivery home in the CEPZ area for pregnant garments workers. The General Secretary of the workers central committee Mr. Musleh Uddin, urged upon the administration to stop increasing of house rent at 100 to 120% every year in workers colony belonging to private owners, to provide maternity medical benefits to female garments workers and other demands which have already been approved by GOB.
The special guest of the occasion Mr. Mainuddin Ahmed Mintu who is the first Vice-President of BGMEA in his speech informed the audience that his organization has been dedicated towards the greater welfare and improvement of livelihood of garments workers and their children because he said this will bring about boosting up the production on one hand and improvement of the relationship between the owners and the workers on the other he urged upon the workers not to listen to any rumors but to follow the rules and regulation of the government and requested the workers to rush to the BGMEA office for resolving any problem which he promised, he will accomplish with in shortest period of time.
The meeting was followed by a dance drama and one act play staged by the garments workers.

Mr. Dennis Lee (Global Corporate Responsibility, Youngone), distinguished representations of Young One Group Ltd. Soul visited ECCD centers run by MAMATA in ward #39 around CEPZ. He was highly satisfied to see the evocatively and vision of children of those centers who come from poor families of garments workers and he marked and congratulated MAMATA to continue the ECCD center which were established by MAMATA with the financial help of Timberland /Young one while MAMATA has been running these countries from 2013 with its our funding.

Bangali New Year 1423 Welcomed in MAMATA with Celebration.

Bengali New Year, marks with the month of Boishakh, the first month of Bangla calendar.
Boishakh was welcomed on its 1st day called Pohela Boishakh, by the entire nation and personnel of MAMATA also joined the nation on this great occasion. MAMATA upholding its long standing tradition welcomed the 1st month of Bangla calendar on 23 April 2016 in && on 10th Boishakh 1423. In its holyday presence with great enthusiasm and celebration.
The cultural organ of MAMATA called “MOM” presented a cultural program that included Songs, dancing, one at play and other colorful events befitting to the celebration. The function started at 11 am and followed by a “Boishakhi” lunch cooked prepared and presented by MAMATA personnel including traditional foods, cakes and other delicious item of foods and drinks. 850 personnel of MAMATA enjoyed the occasion with great festivity. Mr. Manjurul Alam (Lions District Vice Governor) graced the function as chief guest.

A team from Save the Children Korea(SCIKorea) and Save the Children Bangladesh(SCIBangladesh) headed by Hankyung chu(Assistant Manager , Health & Nutrition team ,International program department of Korea ) and Her Counterpart of SCLBangladesh Dr. Golam Mothabbir held a meeting with chief Executive and members of core management team(CMT) of MAMATA on 5th April 2016 at 10 am .
In the meeting lively exchange of views and presentations were held an MAMATA focusing on health service delivery in CCC ward numbers 13,14,15 and 22. During than stay in Chittagong, they visited those wards to asses the necessity of primary health care and to discuss with the slum dwellers and community leaders on health issues.

On 4th April 2016 MAMATA organized a workshop for Her Finance project of BSR in Hotel Saint Martin in the morning where potential owners of Garments factories attended.Chavi Ghuiliani (Director Her Finance), Marat Yu (manager Her Project), Filipper Sevastio (Associate Her Finance) and Abil bin Amin(Bangladesh Country representative Her Project) remained present as resource persons.
In the workshop after deliberations and feedback sessions on financial inclusion of germents workers through Mobile Financial Services a consensus was established to introduce Mobile Financial Services(MFS) in the factories where female garments worker have been working .

A meeting was held with Gaurav Bhandari of Green Light Planet with MAMATA

On 3rd April 2016 A meeting was held with Gaurav Bhandari of Green Light Planet with Md. Faruque (Deputy Chief Executive of MAMATA) and Mr Mohammad Shahariar ( Director Finance of MAMATA) at 7 pm in Hotel Saint Martin, Agrabad ,Chittagong.
In the meeting board base discussion were held on solar lamps as an alternative to electric and indigenous lamps. The solar lamps could specially be made for remote and hard to reach village areas in south Chittagong at Cox’s Bazar Districts.
